Materials science and process technologies in special environments - that is the focus of the Underwater Technology Center Hannover (UWTH). The prevailing conditions at the application and use sites of materials are often completely different from the manufacturing and processing conditions. For example, many of the processing requirements for both the material and the process technology no longer apply at the underwater application site. Since its opening on June 24, 1997, UWTH has therefore been researching the thermal cutting and joining of materials and the influence of environmental conditions on processes and material properties.
