High Current Impulse Treatment

If a metallic material is subjected to electrical pulses of high current density during a forming process, the flow stress can be lowered. With a suitable selection of the current pulse parameters, materials which are difficult to form, such as nickel-based superalloys or magnesium, can be formed in cold condition.
