Joining and Surface Technology FORTIS

FORTIS is a scientific division of the Institute for Materials Science, where technologies for coating tribologically highly stressed component surfaces and soldering of metal and ceramics are researched and developed.

Thermal coating processes include thermal sprayings, such as atmospheric plasma spraying, arc spraying, and high-speed flame spraying, as well as thin-film processes such as magnetron sputtering and electroplating. Among the soldering methods, application-oriented material, solder, and process developments are carried out in vacuum furnaces and protective gas continuous furnaces.
