In the through-transmission method, two transducers are required, with one functioning solely as a transmitter and the other solely as a receiver. The sound evaluated is the one that passes through the test piece. If a defect is present within the inspection volume, the detected sound intensity at the receiver decreases. Various transducers with perpendicular and angled incidence are available for the inspection.
