Under portecting gases and by creating an ultra-high vacuum (XHV)-equivalent atmosphere in the arc zone of welding or soldering processes, the plasma processes in the thermal process zone and at the workpiece surface are investigated. The resulting oxygen-free process zone is considered as a reactive process zone, offering the potential to reduce oxide layers on the sample surface. This can significantly improve the microstructure and structure of the joints in terms of mechanical-technological properties and occupational safety.
