How do manufacturing processes affect the microstructure of materials and how do these affect the properties of the materials? These central questions are investigated in the division for Technology of Materials both for classic construction materials and for special materials (shape memory, high temperature and high entropy materials). The division also oversees the institute's central mechanical testing. The division further manages the institute's materials testing and metallography, which also act as service providers for investigations and research tasks from industry.
