Biomedical Engineering and Lightweight Construction

Magnesium, aluminum and titanium are the focus of our research. In addition to investigating microstructure-property relationships during casting or extrusion of light metals, the focus is on developing metallic implant materials and alloys with sensory properties. The production of tailored composite structures and hybrid materials is investigated by casting techniques as well as by composite extrusion. In addition to basic research, topics from industry-related research are also examined.
